ABOUT SITEWATER STUDIO

Built from professional site-water practice.

Sitewater Studio grew out of more than 15 years of landscape architecture practice integrating landscape design, irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and greywater systems.

The goal is to translate that planning process into practical tools that help property owners and professionals understand the balance between water supply and demand, evaluate different strategies, and see how the parts of a site’s water system work together.

Professional foundation

The professional experience behind Sitewater includes the design and evaluation of residential and commercial landscape, irrigation, rainwater harvesting, greywater, and other non-potable water systems—from small residential projects to very large sites and systems.

That experience also includes mentorship from some of the early pioneers of greywater systems and rainwater harvesting in California, along with the design of numerous permitted non-potable water systems, including several that were the first of their kind to be permitted in their jurisdictions.

Sitewater Studio grew out of spreadsheet models developed over years of practice and many rainwater and greywater projects. Those models were used to determine appropriate storage volumes by simulating daily inflows and outflows with historical weather data, to understand how different parts of a system worked together, and to help clients understand both the systems and the recommendations being made.

Over time, those project tools became more sophisticated and broadly useful. Sitewater Studio was created to make those tools available more widely.

A transparent planning approach

Sitewater is designed to show not just the result, but the assumptions and calculations behind it.

Climate data, water-use estimates, system inputs, limitations, and local requirements remain visible throughout the process so users can understand how a result was reached, compare alternatives, and recognize where professional review may still be appropriate.
